Beginnings…

There is nothing like spring when nature starts to come alive again and that lush green starts to return to the frozen Canadian landscape. The birds start to sing again, the sun feels like it’s actually present in a day, and everyday you get this feeling of excitement that summer is getting closer and soon you’ll be relaxing on a nice hot beach somewhere. The beginning of spring is one of those mile markers in a year that everyone looks forward too the future… but how do we know where those mile markers are in life???

New beginnings… it’s funny isn’t it… we often think they are marked with these significant events that leave a lasting impact on our lives… but in reality we never know the biggest days of our lives are going to be the biggest until they are over… it’s the normal days that start out just like every other one that end up being the days that change us forever… like showing up to work one day and someone new is there, and later discovering she will be your first true friend… A friend moving away for school and finding an undying kinship with someone you barely knew… You’re family moving to their new home and then finding a soul mate… Going for a drink after a long and hard second week of work and later finding out the person sitting beside you has become a unexpected companion that gives you strength to grow in a crazy new world…

The smallest days of my life have always been the biggest… so it makes me wonder if today was one of those days….

Life is what happens when you set yourself up to be surprised…

I love this post very much. It made me tear up, if you can believe it.
It's funny you should write this, because I've had these thoughts, too. Sometimes you wonder what memories will stick and why. I remember so vividly some summer days I spent with my dad just sitting in the tractor with him while he baled. Talking and singing, laughing and passing the time.
You expect to remember Christmases and birthday parties, but some of my best memories of friends and family are not on or near special occasions. It makes you wonder if by making such a big deal about things to force "making memories" it just defeats the purpose. I think it does. I like to take them as they come. Just like friends, the best ones are forever.
